It is with great sadness that Bob and Jean White have decided to retire from active judo. Bob a 9th Dan (highest in our association) has been doing judo for about fifty to sixty years and was one of the founder members of the BJC (MAC), he feels that at 82 it is about time he hung up his gi and lead a more relaxing and quite life. Jean a 6th Dan (highest female in our association) feels the same and is looking forward to a well earned rest. They have both given a lot to judo and have run extremely successful clubs within Kent. Between them they have trained more people to the highest grades than anyone else and you see these players around all the time, Len Mower and Andy Ladbrook (highest contest grade) being just two of them, there are far too many to list.
On behave of wrenwa judo club I would like to thank both Bob and Jean for the support and encouragement they have shown myself and my members and to wish them a long and relaxing retirement.
As of 1st January 2008 the club become a member of the British Judo Association.
What does this mean for club members
| More competitions It is recommend that members take out duel licences to optimize the amount of contests they may enter.

| Being part of a large
organisation This brings a multitude of rewards, not just funding but also the chance for players to fight for their country. |
Two parents from the club attended a first aid course hosted by Medway Council on the 5th December 2007.
I would like to congratulate both Maria and Liz on achieving their first aid qualification but hope we will not need their new found skills on a club night.
I must apologise for the 3 weeks the club was shut, due to the council relocating the mats it meant they were not accessible during wet weather. However the council have now gone back on their notice and the mats are now stored in their original location. This means the club can run regardless of what is happening outside. I am sorry if you have been inconvenienced in any way and welcome everybody back to train.
The club will be closed on the following dates
29th May Club trip to Spain
14th August BJC (MAC) summer school
The last night the club is open is 11th December were we will have a disco (TBC), something to eat and drink and our presentation.
The club will re-open on the 8th January 2008
Christmas closure 2006

The club will re-open on the 9th January 2007
Due to lack of attendance the club will be closed on a Saturday until further notice
As all coaches will be attending this years summer school. The club will be shut on the following dates
6th, 9th and 13th August
The club will be open as usual on the 16th August
Structure of Saturday sessions
As from Saturday the 9th July the main emphasises of the sessions will be the teaching of the BJC (MAC) syllabus, all judoka who wish to grade will have to attend the sessions to gain the required results on their grading sheets, club gradings will also be held on a Saturday. Tuesday evenings will be primarily contest style tuition.
As from Saturday 22nd January 2005 the club will open 2 days a week, it is hoped this will allow the judoka the time to practice when they wish to. New members are welcome to attend either day, tuition will by Chris Riley or Pete Kilcourse (some times both). It is hoped that the Saturday session will attract members / potential members who have a busy lifestyle and are unable to attend during the week, whatever your circumstances come along and enjoy yourself.
It is with much personal sadness that I have to announce the sudden loss of one of the Southern Regions longest serving judoka. Sadly, on Saturday 30th August 03, Mark Barton passed away following a heart attack whilst at home with his family. Mark had taught at the club many times, had graded many of our judoka at Regional Gradings over the years and was the father of one of the regions most successful fighters, Victoria Barton. There are no words that can express the loss felt by Mark's family and by his many friends in judo and he will be missed very much by everyone. Our best wishes go to them.
Another much regarded friend and longest serving judoka also passed away. Mike Illot left our lives in December 03. Mike was the president of the BJC and graded many of our members at the yearly summer school, he also watched and congratulated many of us at national events. Again there is no words to describe the loss that is felt by Mike's family and friends he will be missed greatly. Our deepest regards go to them that knew him.
